TRENCHWOOD FARM

Type of Location: Business + Home + Community Project
Location: Feed
Lamp Location: Yes
Identifiers: Grounds (about four acres) are ringed with a razor fence that's three layers deep and also covered in powerful wards and antlers.
Hours of Operation: 7AM - 7PM
Employees/Roommates: Various - currently accepting full or part-time help
Means of Contact: Either 1) arriving in person or 2) dropping a line onto local druid (and interim live-in caretaker) Vyng Vang Zoombah's personal inbox
Trenchwood Farm is all the way out in Feed, but remains easily accessible by lantern. It produces roughly 1000 eggs a week and 600 meat birds a month. Produce is vibrant and varied with protected, clean soil and many, many rings of fortification.

If visitors arrive by lamp, they will appear in front a farmhouse of mid-century Australian design.

Behind the house is a gated courtyard, which contains:

  • Newly-constructed stables for resident horses Zelda (a whippet of a thoroughbred racer) and Aoife (an enormous shire)
  • Partially-finished iron and glass greenhouse that's behind the stables
  • A long row of hoop houses to the side (for seedling work until the greenhouse is completed)
  • A Guardian Tree behind the greenhouse
  • A path up to the great barn where the chickens and a workshop tenuously share space
  • A few other outbuildings on a quarter of an acre or so

This inner compound is where most of the action takes place. Even when it's dark, an enormous flock of chickens are often out and scratching around for moonlit treats. These are normal chickens, in many breeds, but...curiously, some of them are wearing little crochet hats. (A tradition started by Raleigh Becket, one of the farm's previous owners. It still continues under the new stewards.)

Chuck Hansen and Raleigh put months of constant hard labor into getting this project off the ground, and it shows. The entire place is thriving with lush gardens both floral and edible, originally helped along by Raleigh's power shift, and continues to be maintained by generous Sleepers and Trenchies alike. Machinery dots the property, along with palettes of wooden egg boxes and straw. A military ATV is parked behind the back of the house (the wraparound porch of which looks out over the busy hub behind).

FUTURE PLANS (as of July 2022):
  • Finish greenhouse construction
  • Goats - Dairy & Wool
  • Animal Rehabilitation

The Sanctuary - CRENSHAW

OVERVIEW
Following the discovery of a guardian sapling within an abandoned and ruined monastery on the edges of Crenshaw and the sudden growth of purified plant life around it, there's a growing bustle of activity around it. Those suffering corruption or despair come to sit under its boughs and let its tranquil aura help set them at ease. People started chattering on the street, marveling at it and the unprecedented greenery it's brought with it, and begin setting up small shops and carts out front to peddle wares to those who are basically pilgrims. Some are useful... some aren't. Incense is common.

Exploration of the building has revealed it to be a monastery that was once dedicated to Moon Presence after contact was made with the ghost of the last archivist, who is friendly and absent-minded old man who enjoys being read to as he can no longer turn the pages of books. Wards allowing him travel have been set up in several locations to allow him to interact with individuals outside his old study off the cloisters.

As of early-mid July, Sanctuary's lunar generator is back online, powering the entire area that's cleared with lunar light as well as heating and cooling.

MEMBER ROLES:

Corruption relief:
People who can help provide emotional/spiritual support for the corrupted.

Beast purification: People with purification/exorcism abilities or soul sight/the ability to enter souls/spirit worlds to help humanely purify Beasts without killing them. Some beasts can never have their Beasthood reversed, but their suffering souls could still be freed from corruption and laid to rest.

Healers/Doctors:
Medically proficient people/healers or those to help nurse any injured or those recovering from Beasthood.

Fighter/Patrol:
Allied non-lethal Hunters or other people who patrol for beasts to help locate and contain beasts to be purified.
As of early June there are two allied native Hunter factions that will work/partner with members. They are Nell and Vaughn and they are... quirky. Works/partners with purification experts.

Wardens/Protection:
Combat capable people to provide watch and protection to Sanctuary itself. Can function like a bouncer. Blood magic capable people, especially darkbloods and palebloods, who can help with creating protective runes or eventual containment/pocket dimension/etc. rooms also highly needed.

Research:
Anyone interested in researching new humane ways to treat beasthood/corruption, equipment for the beast patrols, or helping provide data.

Support and Groundskeeping:
Help maintaining the grounds, gardening/Guardian Sapling care, basic maintenance.

Administrative:
Organized or eloquent individuals good at making things happen

Donated items and services:
People that help to help provide supplies, blood, food and/or cooking for all those who come there for sanctuary. Purification supplies like moon drops, orbs of hope, and any other event items are highly sought after as well. Blood gems are in demand for research and equipment-making. Donating items to be bartered for necessary items or to offer as payment as well is also helpful!

WHAT
Humane beast purification efforts and corruption. Renovations began in May 2022 and room clearing and rebuilding is still in progress. Beast patrol efforts and purification started more in earnest in June-July.
All roles are volunteer on an as-you-can basis up to full time, with time reimbursed by food, shelter, care, and community support.
WHERE
Crenshaw, near the Watch Tower. Lamp location onsite.
THINGS OF NOTE
➢ relations with native Hunters and the Wayward Watcher are strained, except for two secretive allied Hunter factions that work actively with members
➢ as of June, coordinated efforts to patrol Trench on their own and save Beasts and people both have begun
➢ the primary focus is on renovating the space, protecting/cultivating the guardian sapling, and providing for/protecting those that show up for help with their corruption

➢ community/NPC involvement is heavy, especially at the beginning as more Sleepers are filtering in and taking roles

Courtyard
The heart of the Sanctuary, one of the special guardian saplings planted by Amaterasu. The old monastery revolves around a large courtyard that is surrounded by cloisters, at the center of which is a large sakura tree in full bloom. The whole of the courtyard is covered in greenery and flowers unlike can normally be found elsewhere in the Trench aside from where there are similar such trees, and a pool of forever-pure water looks like it's just waiting for some fish. It's in full bloom this month, and some residents have started trying to make a tea from its petals. It's said to be very relaxing (and delicious, delicately floral and positively... heavenly. But don't drink in excess.)

It's the most common place for both residents of the Trench and Sleepers to be, as its tranquil aura helps soothe one's mind and ease corruption. Napping at its roots or in its branches seems quite popular, and birds and small animals can often be found there, drawn by it. Because of this, one Sleeper has started leading meditation sessions for corruption relief there.

Small and non-violent Beasts also seem drawn in, similar to how they are with the salt lake under the full moon. Twisted little fairies that are not so consumed that they don't still desire to be saved, they can be found resting there before slowly beginning to slip back to their formal selves; perhaps a dove, or maybe mice. Perhaps one could find similar such Beasts, either non-violent or easily restrained, and help bring them there in the hopes that they might also be able to be healed...?

INFIRMARY WING
Many of those who have come seeking some sort of tranquility are taxed, injured, or suffering in a way where they may need to rest within the confines of safety. One of the first spaces that has been cleared and made useable is a makeshift infirmary. There are simple beds and cots, a series of rooms for some privacy for those who simply need a clean and restorative place to stay temporarily versus those who need more medical attention. It's no Lumenarium, no place with any advanced medical treatment, but there are basic supplies for treating wounds and illness that have been donated. No one will be turned away, though violent individuals would be... dealt with in order to not be violent or cause harm, and anyone is welcome a bed for a night if it's needed. Some healers filter in and out, and most medicine practiced here is not the blood ministry common in Lumenwood but a mix of Sleeper powers from their worlds and basic aid.

A stockpile has been started for various items known to help reduce corruption or Beasthood as well, notably orbs of hope and a few precious moon drops, though most of those have been reserved for study. Anyone helping to assist, or who gets care, would be asked to just help return the favor for the ill and corrupted by donating what they can when they can.

KITCHEN AND DINING HALL
Where there are people and the needy there is a need for food! A ramshackle affair currently, lunch and dinner is usually provided in the dining hall for anyone who is helping with the renovations or assisting in some manner, as well as anyone who has come there for aid. All the food is brought in via either donated supplies from local merchants or farms, some Sleepers, and pot luck style.

The kitchens are easy to access though, currently dominated by a stout Crenshaw woman named Abigail who is very thorough in how she wrangles any lollygaggers into chopping mushrooms or gutting fish. No one is safe from her. No one. Heaven help you if you make a mess of her kitchen. She is there almost every day, will lecture a grown man like he's her child, but has a soft spot for young people and will sneak them extra helpings even if she'd deny it. Heaven help you also if you have cooking skills or show any interest in it, because you will find her immediately recruiting you.

Her daughter often comes by bearing a huge bushel of sometimes-questionable "fish", a middle-aged fisherwoman named Joanna.

MAIN HALL
Wide open at the moment, this is used primarily as an open community space at the moment. It leads directly through to the cloisters that surround the courtyard, and so all foot traffic passes through here. At the moment, it's used as a staging grounds for all donated materials that are being used for the reconstruction effort.

Intricate carvings, statues, and faded paintings are throughout the nave and altar area -- but all have been damaged or worn in such a way where it's hard to make out what sort of shrine this was originally, or to whom. Some people will chime in and say it was to Moon Presence herself. Others to Argonaut, or perhaps The Reckoning. Maybe something else entirely, some bygone remnant of another civilization. Who's to say, there doesn't seem to be any consensus or proof yet. Origins have been confirmed as a monastery to Moon Presence, and Palamades has begun collecting and preserving the art and history within the Hidden Archives.

Lunar flowers have begun to grow again around the monastery grounds, so perhaps there's something to be said for it.

the rookery is the name sansa has given to an old townhouse in cellar door formerly inhabited by an old nightwalker with an extensive dress collection and a penchant for feeding the ravens. technically it is a play on the name of the eyrie. the front room is reserved for fittings, and has some cloth swatches and embroidery samples on display. there is also a dressform that usually has one of her gowns on it. there is a carved weirwood tree growing out of the back room of the first floor and through the two rooms on top of it, sticking of the roof and right side of the house. the roof and walls have been repaired around it, thanks to wanda maximoff. the rest of the building is largely neo-victorian, with sansa's tapestries hanging in the rooms she uses most often. there are also some photographs and paintings of a large black batcat. Vi has painted a large direwolf sigil in grey on the facade. wanda maximoff has provided magical wards for the house as well as wards against fire and explosions. jinx has built a small but sturdy treehouse on top of the rookery. sansa creates custom couture for night walkers and sleepers that ask nicely. she is especially keen to provide low-cost leather armor and padding to sleepers in need of it. sansa has a blood gem tool and she's apprenticed with both an ordinary jeweler and a master artificer. she makes bloodstone primarily for decorative and sleeper use. they are not very powerful, but they are largely affordable. she will provide palebloods with vile bloodstone and vilebloods with pale bloodstone for free. clothing and embroidery reference as well as ic turnaround times can be found here. further information on the house itself can be found here. ic commissions can be arranged here. © tessisamess

THE LEMON CAKE HOUSE

Type of Location: Housing
Location: Gaze
Lamp Location: Yes
Identifiers: It is a screamingly yellow and pink house nestled in the general gloom and classic style of Gaze. The problem isn't in finding it, the problem is forgetting you ever saw it in the first place.
Employees/Roommates: No one but her Omen, Orville
Means of Contact: Inbox
Lexi's favorite cake in the entire world is lemon cake with strawberry jam between the layers and strawberry-flavored buttercream. When she saw this screamingly yellow house in Gaze, it was like it was meant to be. Lexi tends to decorate in a weird hodgepodge of cottagecore and macromilizm with lots of emphasis on colors, decorations, and eye-catching (or eye-gouging) detail. She's enjoying having a room to herself after sharing one with Cassie, her older sister, all her life, but she finds it awfully weird to be on her own. The house has three bedrooms, two baths, and a sunroom off to the side. © tessisamess

THE ENGLISH COTTAGE

Type of Location: Housing
Location: Gaze
Lamp Location: Yes
Identifiers: It's a larger on the inside dwelling with one branch that's painted white stone, another side with exposed brick/stone, and both have a faux-thatched roof and a large outside space filled with a plethora of plants, shrubs, and trees
Employees/Roommates: No one but her Omen, Melody
Means of Contact: inbox
Rose lives in a two-level classic English cottage with three bedrooms, two baths, a rooftop patio, a large garden, a side patio, and a carriage house. It's far larger on the inside than what it looks like it should be on the outside and it's awfully cozy, which was what Rose was looking for after living in giant estates for most of her life. There's plenty of room for company and/or roommates should the opportunity present itself which Rose honestly wishes would since she's awfully lonely, just her and Melody. © tessisamess

THE MAZE

Type of Location: Housing

Employees/Roommates: Her kittens, Polly and Smudge. Her batkitten, Carmilla. Her Omen, Moonlight
Means of Contact: here
This is Tinya's house in Cellar Door. It's in a Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie Style of architecture and it comes with three bedrooms, a formal dining room, an informal dining room, with hardwood and stained glass everywhere. Some of the rooms, the ceiling is so low that those over 6'0" will find themselves ducking and other ceilings so high, Tinya would have to fly to reach them. The house itself is nearly impossible to find one's way through unless you're Tinya, one of her kittens, her batkitten, or her Omen. There are three bedrooms, one occupied by Tinya herself, one kept in reserve if someone needs a Night Walker's more intimate talents, the other a two-bed room with storage space and vanities for each. © tessisamess
