Welcome to Deer Country's Newsletter! This is a half IC, half OOC informational post. We strongly urge our player base to read all Newsletters posted to the community as they contain important information about that month's weather, environmental changes, other plot-important information, important dates, and any important mod announcements. Newsletters will allow a chance for players to post about the impact their characters may have made in the setting using the form down below.
You can always feel free to ask questions on newsletters. Of course, we may sometimes suggest you wait until the event for certain questions, but for the most part, we should be able to help you out! Players are welcome to engage with the prompts/elements from Newsletter as soon as they are accepted into the game. Players may also use newsletter prompts as a basis for writing samples in applications.

CURRENT SEASON:: Season of Tears. This normally comes in with a False Spring and the beginning of what Trenchies refer to as the life cycle, the harshness of Season of the Bone finally beginning to fade. However, something is off this month
THE MOON:: The Wild moon fills the sky with a strange, captivating green glow. The smell of freshly tilled earth is rampant in the air, as is the cool feeling of damp moss between the toes when one is barefoot. Moon Presence can be heard singing in foreign tongues during the night. Sounds of a child's laughter echo when one least expect it, but with no clear source.
PATRON PTHUMERIAN:: The Moss King is the patron of March and he can be seen mostly around the beach during the first week, and all around the city and wild areas throughout the rest of the month. Wherever he walks, plant life flourishes behind him. One can tell where he has sat, because moss covers the area. With him comes an excited, fresh feeling that seems to carry over to the Trenchies. The Moss King encourages people to get out of their homes and stretch aching bones, to try something new. It's time to warm up, everyone, and what better way than to play some games?
In fact, the Moss King is so interested in doing something new that one of the running themes that is consistent in the early Wild Moon is that nothing ever seems to repeat. Where the Moss King plays, the games are always new and fresh. Craving variety, he refuses to do the same thing multiple times, which can make the month unpredictable at times.
MONTHLY BLESSINGS:: On your Blessed Day this month, your Patron Pthumerian will bless you with a ring of random fortune adorned with symbols of unknown origin. Though the symbols are themselves unrecognizable and seem to look almost alien and unnatural, bearing more in kind with the Pthumerians, there are twelve of them exactly. One might even suspect that they are meant to represent the patron Pthumerians, though it is not entirely clear no matter how closely one looks at them. The moment the ring is worn for the first time in a day, it cannot be removed until 24 hours have passed by any means. The symbols spin until one faces the wearer's knuckle and one faces away. Each of these represents a 2 hour period of the day, with the one facing the wearer finding their day is so much luckier during that time, and during the period facing away their day is as bad as it was good before. These periods are not always separated by six hours and the positions of the figures on the ring seem to shift unpredictably. Should the time frame fall when they are asleep, they either have a truly restful sleep like none they've had in years, or the worst nightmares imaginable, respectively. This ring can be worn and used once every day, but when worn it will always result in one two hour period being lucky and one being awful. To get an idea of what time periods may be chosen, you may use a Chinese Hourly Zodiac for a helpful guide.
THE WEATHER:: The weather in this month is anything but predictable and seems to be suffering a fit of chaotic inconsistency. While most of Trench starts to experience a false spring, chill rains coming down in temperatures that quickly rise to almost comfortable levels? There is a sudden chill and freezing rain and snow mix that covers the beaches and boardwalk during the first week of the month, causing the entire region to be trapped in a sheet of ice and thick snow. It melts quickly during the second week of the month, and afterwards Trench is almost unseasonably warm for the middle two weeks. Unpredictable storms may rage through districts of the city, but none of them cover all of Trench, and seem to be directed at particular districts without rhyme or reason. When not raining, the air is sweet and a little muggy, and life blossoms at almost incredible levels.
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:: Plantlife is growing at an accelerated rate throughout Trench and the surrounding areas (though not as far as Riteior's City or the Outpost). Plants of all varieties can be seen growing to blue-ribbon winning proportions or even unnaturally large. Many of the plants are perfectly healthy and safe to use or eat, but carnivorous plants and other hazardous varieties may grow to epic proportions as well, so caution is appropriate. See the third prompt at The TDM for more information on the growing plants.
EFFECTS FROM PREVIOUS MONTH:: Nothing from the previous month holds over. The Moss King demands a change of pace, and he shall have it! Some Trenchies whisper that the effort may be taxing the Moss King, who might be recovering himself from the strange disease, though he does seem to be mostly his usual self.

Each month, blood types will be impacted differently depending on events, Pthumerians, and moon cycles. These changes will vary significantly. These changes are meant to represent the intricate relationship between Sleeper blood and the world around them.
Players are always welcome to opt-out of anything in this section, but we do strongly encourage participants to help create a consistent atmosphere for the game. To those who opt-out OOCly, characters cannot ICly contradict these events.
There will be some months where all blood types are impacted or only some blood types are impacted. Rarely will there be months where no blood types are impacted.
WARMBLOODS:: This month, warmbloods feel envigorated and more alive than ever. They feel like they can do anything, and in fact? They can do anything, or at least more than before. Warmbloods acquire temporary blood powers during the month of March randomly. The nature of these powers should match generally something found in the repertoire of the other blood types, and can change chaotically throughout the month. They are difficult to control.
COLDBLOODS:: Coldbloods will have considerable trouble controlling their powers this month. It is not impossible to do it, but they find it hard to even draw the powers up, as if they were being drained constantly like some mystical battery or a sort of supernatural anemia that leaves them weak or lethargic. Who is taking their power away?
PALEBLOODS:: Palebloods find that their senses are entirely wrong throughout this month randomly. At times, they will be able to sense things normally, but with the wrong sense organ. They might see with their nostrils as they smell, taste whatever they touch or hear the warmth of a campfire. This can be extremely trippy and almost body-horror esque, and the interpretation of how this plays out is left up to the player. It is, however, highly random and so may not affect everyone the same.
VILEBLOODS:: Vilebloods struggle with the concept of time or space. They might sometimes experience a second over the course of a single hour, or a lifetime in a minute. Time may randomly speed up or slow down without warning, or distances may prove unpredictable, causing it to take extensive effort to go a short distance, or walk a league with a single step. It's all very chaotic and uncontrolled and they never quite know when it's happening.
DARKBLOODS:: Nothing is wrong. Darkbloods feel normal. They do not feel too energetic, or lethargic. They do not have changes in their powers, which are more stable than normal but not unduly so. There's absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever and everything feels normal, right?
Or is it? They can't shake the nagging suspicion that something is horribly wrong, or the itch to find out what it is. It's a fruitless search, but it's there bugging them constantly.
LEVELS OF CORRUPTION:: Chaotic and Unpredictable. Potentially high.
LEVELS OF BEASTHOOD:: Despite the chaos of Corruption this month, Beasthood is less common and corruption seems to avoid crossing the threshold to Beasthood in many cases.

Did your character start a new business last month? Did they have a massive fight? Solve some mysteries? Then this is the place to summarize the impact they have had on the setting! We hope this makes it easier for everyone to collectively stay in the loop about what other players are doing. This is not required but we feel it will help provide a sense of community among the characters. All impacts summarized should be incidents that could be publically discovered or referenced. Impacts can be from player plots, mod events, TDMs, character-created businesses, or other such concepts.
