FEBRUARY 2023 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to Deer Country's Newsletter! This is a half IC, half OOC informational post. We strongly urge our player base to read all Newsletters posted to the community as they contain important information about that month's weather, environmental changes, other plot-important information, important dates, and any important mod announcements. Newsletters will allow a chance for players to post about the impact their characters may have made in the setting using the form down below.
You can always feel free to ask questions on newsletters. Of course, we may sometimes suggest you wait until the event for certain questions, but for the most part, we should be able to help you out! Players are welcome to engage with the prompts/elements from Newsletter as soon as they are accepted into the game. Players may also use newsletter prompts as a basis for writing samples in applications.

CURRENT SEASON:: Season of Bone. February is the final month of Bone Season. Some Trenchies believe February is the month of bitterness.
THE MOON:: The Egg Moon. The moon is yellow and warm. Moon Presence will frequent the beach this month, singing out to the ocean in a melancholic way. Trenchies believe that the Egg Moon is the ideal month for rituals and pacts.
PATRON PTHUMERIAN:: The Doorway. Despite the frigid weather, brilliant roses will begin to blossom all throughout town seemingly out of nothing. They blossom in blankets over rooftops and along sidewalks. Some of the roses are pure white, blending into the snow, while others are bright red. The entire city begins to smell like roses. The smell seems to soothe some while it agitates others. If the Doorway is your Patron or if you have strong relationships with people in your home, you will find roses over your home's doorways. These roses will help soothe corruption. The Doorway will appear frequently in the streets, standing silent, resolute. Fresh blood will be trickling down their sword. While they may not talk to those who approach, you may feel great comfort just by talking to them for a while. The Doorway does not seem to be impacted by the disease that has been making the other Pthumerians ill.
MONTHLY BLESSINGS:: On your Blessed Day this month, your Patron Pthumerian will bless you with two rose pins. These rose pins are connected to one another through blood magic, allowing the wearers to find one another wherever they may be. It will place a string of light only visible to the wearers between the two that can stretch across any distance. The light will glow a bright, calm white when both parties are safe. If one of the parties is in danger, it will start to turn a yellow-orange. When they are actively injured or dying, it will burn a deep red. Following the light will always bring you exactly to where they are, even if they can not be seen, or are lost in the Other Trench. The string of light will only disappear if one of the parties wearing the pin dies or returns to the sea (drops from the game). The pin can be lost, so be careful with it! It can not be destroyed. It can be given to different people to be worn at different times, but will only ever connect two individuals to one another at a time. It can not be connected to other rose pins, only the rose pin it was originally given with as a pair.
THE WEATHER:: The weather remains snowy and cold. Madam Generosity will continue to help create paths through the snow. Windchill will make it feel colder than it is, so stay bundled.
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:: The Dog Keeper's dogs are out and about helping guide people safely from one place to another. If you wind up stuck outside, the dogs will find you and bundle up around you to ensure you stay warm. These dogs will also help dig out homes after blizzards if needed.
EFFECTS FROM PREVIOUS MONTH:: Characters can still be impacted by the Shedding Ceremony. Lockjoint will start to clear up this month. The Pthumerians that have been ill will start to have their symptoms alleviated, so long as people continue to do the rituals each month. In particular, the impacts that the Tower's illness has had on the city (moving buildings, changing streets, melting architecture, etc.) will start to clear up throughout the month, and the city will be back to normal by March.

Each month, blood types will be impacted differently depending on events, Pthumerians, and moon cycles. These changes will vary significantly. These changes are meant to represent the intricate relationship between Sleeper blood and the world around them.
Players are always welcome to opt-out of anything in this section, but we do strongly encourage participants to help create a consistent atmosphere for the game. To those who opt-out OOCly, characters cannot ICly contradict these events.
There will be some months where all blood types are impacted or only some blood types are impacted. Rarely will there be months where no blood types are impacted.
WARMBLOODS:: This month, warmbloods will want to dote on their loved ones with gifts. They will want to bring them shiny obects, or get them every object they see in a store that they show any remote interest in. Whatever they can to spoil the people they care about, they are willing to do.
COLDBLOODS:: Coldbloods will feel the need to physically connect with other people. The will crave touch of any kind, whether it's holding hands or hugging or more.
PALEBLOODS:: Palebloods will feel the need to appreciate, encourage, and compliment those they care about. These will come out whether the person wants them to or not, sometimes without them even realizing they're saying it.
VILEBLOODS:: Vilebloods will want to spend extra time around their friends and loved ones. Spending quality time together will be the most important thing and they'll find that they are more prone to corruption when they are alone.
DARKBLOODS:: Helping people will be something that Darkbloods are particularly focused on this month. Cleaning up the house, protecting them from beasts, it won't matter so long as they feel that they are being useful.

IMPACT SUMMARIES (OOC/IC)
Did your character start a new business last month? Did they have a massive fight? Solve some mysteries? Then this is the place to summarize the impact they have had on the setting! We hope this makes it easier for everyone to collectively stay in the loop about what other players are doing. This is not required but we feel it will help provide a sense of community among the characters. All impacts summarized should be incidents that could be publically discovered or referenced. Impacts can be from player plots, mod events, TDMs, character-created businesses, or other such concepts.

Impact Summary: **Audio file starts, featuring a throaty, low-pitched feminine voice, quite similar to Wesker's only a couple octaves higher.**
Greetings, Trench.
If you've been seeing an unfamiliar female about the Lumenarium and about Lumenwood and the rest of Trench, who vaguely resembles a Blood Minister of your acquaintance, allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Adrienne Winters, the sister of your Dr. Adrian Winters. My twin is... indisposed, as I've been made to understand. I will be his locum, or replacement for the time being. I'm looking forward to working with and assisting you.

This has been quite an experience. This Shedding has lasted about two weeks so far, and I don't see it ending any time soon. I'm rather at ease with this and I'm even enjoying it for the most part, outside of some idiotic males disrespecting my boundaries. I may have taken a little too much pleasure disrespecting theirs. I don't think they expected getting kicked through various doors and walls. Literally. [Said with a hint of sadistic pleasure]
[All seriousness now.] The fact that this Shedding has lingered will...make it necessary for me to obtain some menstrual necessities, particularly something reusable and which won't contribute to Blood Pollution. Any and all recommendations are welcome I also have to ask any Vileblood personages with uteri if they've experienced anything unusual at 'that time of the month', especially for those who were full humans prior to their awakening here. I appreciate any and all information. This is my first time as a female after living as a male for my lifetime.
Future Impact Plans: The Shedding may last until February 14th or the event drops. I the player am rather enjoying writing them this way: the voice comes through like a cross between Albert's and that of his sister Alex.
