March Newsletter

MARCH 2022 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to Deer Country's Newsletter! This is a half IC, half OOC informational post. We strongly urge our player base to read all Newsletters posted to the community as they contain important information about that month's weather, environmental changes, other plot-important information, important dates, and any important mod announcements. Newsletters will allow a chance for players to post about the impact their characters may have made in the setting using the form down below.

You can always feel free to ask questions on newsletters. Of course, we may sometimes suggest you wait until the event for certain questions, but for the most part, we should be able to help you out! Players are welcome to engage with the prompts/elements from Newsletter as soon as they are accepted into the game. Players may also use newsletter prompts as a basis for writing samples in applications.

ENVIORMENTAL CHANGES (IC)
CURRENT SEASON:: March kicks off the Season of Tears. This comes in with a False Spring and the beginning of what Trenchies refer to as the life cycle, the harshness of Season of the Bone finally beginning to fade.

THE MOON:: The Wild moon fills the sky with a strange, captivating green glow. This brings with it the sweet scent of honey and flowers. Moon Presence can be heard singing in foreign tongues during the night. During the day, a soft weeping can be heard all throughout Deer Country.

PATRON PTHUMERIAN:: The Moss King is the patron of March and he will be seen wandering all throughout Deer Country. Wherever he walks, plant life flourishes behind him. One can tell where he has sat for moss covers the area. With him comes an excited, fresh feeling that seems to carry over to the Trenchies. The Moss King encourages people to get out of their homes and stretch aching bones. It's time to warm up, everyone, and what better way than to play some games? The Moss King promises some great activities for the nice weather!

MONTHLY BLESSINGS:: On your Blessed Day this month, your Patron Pthumerian will bless you with a pair of Ten-Sided Dice. The dice come in a variety of aesthetics and colors, seemingly well suited to your character's preferred aesthetics. Any character can roll the die. When they roll, if the number is odd, the character will experience a significant boost to their blood-based abilities as well as a clearer mind, providing relief from corruption. It has been known to even help pull people back from beasthood if the die is rolled at the feet of a beast. The higher the odd number, the longer this will last, and the amount of time coincides with the number (ie; 3 = 3 hours, 5 = 5 hours, 7 = 7 hours, etc.) If the number is even, then the character will face a drastic depletion of their abilities and may even have their blood react negatively to their bodies. In other words? Vilebloods might feel like they have been poisoned, warmbloods might feel completely weak and cold, coldbloods might feel like they are being burned, darkbloods may feel like their whole bodies are being contorted. Corruption will drastically rise and you may be transformed into a beast. It truly is a gamble. But is the gamble worth the risk?

THE WEATHER:: The Season of Tears starts off appropriately with all of the snow melting over the span of a week towards the end of February. This mass melt makes the entire town sound like it's crying, water flowing into the streets. It's a False Spring, Moss King's presence encouraging a flourish of vegetation just about everywhere - maybe even in your own home! There is no logic to the flourish: strawberries grow out of concrete, apples grow on vibrant rose bushes, pineapples sprout out of your kitchen wall. All of the food is delicious and fresh. You might as well stock up! Although Sleepers are resistant to usual colds, some might suffer some allergies due to the heavy pollination everywhere. Anything that can grow in our world or fantasy worlds can grow at this time. Yes this includes magical plants. Just remember not to break the setting.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:: Effects of lockjoint will finally fade away at this time. The world has warmed up and so have Sleepers.

EFFECTS FROM PREVIOUS MONTH:: The Hex from February is no longer in effect for those suffering from it.

MONTHLY INFLUENCE ON BLOOD TYPES (IC)
Each month, blood types will be impacted differently depending on events, Pthumerians, and moon cycles. These changes will vary significantly. These changes are meant to represent the intricate relationship between Sleeper blood and the world around them.

Players are always welcome to opt-out of anything in this section, but we do strongly encourage participants to help create a consistent atmosphere for the game. To those who opt-out OOCly, characters cannot ICly contradict these events.

There will be some months where all blood types are impacted or only some blood types are impacted. Rarely will there be months where no blood types are impacted.

WARMBLOODS:: This will be a physically painful month for warmbloods. Their bodies will feel heavy and sluggish, difficult to move. There will be frequent body aches. Most physical contact with warmbloods will merely hurt them more.

COLDBLOODS:: Coldblood will have temporary influence/control over plantlife this month. It seems the same energy they use for electric/fire/ice abilities is now accessible for the growth/death of plants in their immediate area. May be able to grow plants out of nothing.

PALEBLOODS:: Palebloods will struggle greatly with hallucinations during this month. They will see mushrooms everywhere and struggle to recognize the faces of people they know and care for. They will see mushrooms sprouting out of people and find it difficult to keep track of reality.

VILEBLOODS:: Vileblood will be unusually non-toxic and healing this month. Rubbing vileblood over simple injuries such as cuts or fractures will rapidly heal said injuries. All vileblood-coated items will lose their poison effect this month and instead be for healing. Vileblood's usual effects will return in April.

DARKBLOODS:: Darkbloods will be able to see the "life pulse" all throughout town. They will be able to see energy in living organisms, and see some sort of colored aura radiating around them. This aura can be customized to each individual. When someone dies or becomes sick, darkbloods will be able to see the impact on their aura.

LEVELS OF CORRUPTION:: Corruption will be extremely high this month especially when the event occurs.

LEVELS OF BEASTHOOD:: Beasthood will be rampant as vegetation increases and more oppurtunities for madness arise. Beasts in the setting will be more dangerous than they have been all of Bone Season.

IMPACT SUMMARIES (OOC/IC)
Did your character start a new business last month? Did they have a massive fight? Solve some mysteries? Then this is the place to summarize the impact they have had on the setting! We hope this makes it easier for everyone to collectively stay in the loop about what other players are doing. This is not required but we feel it will help provide a sense of community among the characters. All impacts summarized should be incidents that could be publically discovered or referenced. Impacts can be from player plots, mod events, TDMs, character-created businesses, or other such concepts.

This will also serve as a light plotting post for those who are interested in bringing on more people for whatever they have done/how they plan to continue with their personal plots. Please fill out the following form and post it as a comment on this page!

Impact summaries are more or less meant to keep characters and/or players in the loop. This does not take the place of proper CR memes or plotting posts for events.

There will be a OOC Impact Top Level comment players can use to discuss OOC impacts in a more formal, OOC manner where players can discuss the nitty-gritty details and ask questions or plot. This is where you can use the form:
