NOVEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to Deer Country's Newsletter! This is a half IC, half OOC informational post. We strongly urge our player base to read all Newsletters posted to the community as they contain important information about that month's weather, environmental changes, other plot-important information, important dates, and any important mod announcements. Newsletters will allow a chance for players to post about the impact their characters may have made in the setting using the form down below.
You can always feel free to ask questions on newsletters. Of course, we may sometimes suggest you wait until the event for certain questions, but for the most part, we should be able to help you out! Players are welcome to engage with the prompts/elements from Newsletter as soon as they are accepted into the game. Players may also use newsletter prompts as a basis for writing samples in applications.

CURRENT SEASON:: November kicks off Bone Season. This is considered the "crossing over" time of year, the point of time suspended between death and new life. The world slumbers, ready to awaken anew in spring, beneath the snow.
THE MOON:: Bone Moon. This frigid, white moon casts a freezing glare across the city. The skies are clear in November and it's so bright you don't even need a lantern to travel at night. Moon Presence can occasionally be seen floating in the sky by the moon, completely still, doing nothing, saying nothing. She just stays suspended before vanishing in the blink of an eye. What's that about? She seems to be looking for something...or maybe...Someone.
PATRON PTHUMERIAN:: The Tower. Buildings and statues will seem to move around town. Unless your patron is the Tower, you might find yourself getting easily lost in the city of Trench. Are the roads changing themselves? You could have sworn you were just walking across a brick path and now it's cobble stone...
MONTHLY BLESSINGS:: On your Blessed Day this month, if your patron Pthumerian is the Tower, you will recieve a Ball Bearing Compass. While this tool can be used for the traditional purposes of drawing perfect circles on paper, one will find its strength is best used on non-traditional surfaces such as walls, floors, or the earth itself. Draw a circle and you will create a unique "rabbit hole" that opens up into a small, completely impervious room stocked with useful supplies like food, medicine, warm blankets, and possibly even a bed and a warm fire. This room will only last 24 hours but it can be a reprieve from a deadly world and not a bad tool to have with you when you're camping in harsh conditions. The hole can only be entered by those the artist wants to enter. It's a perfect hideaway for those seeking refuge. Anyone can use this tool. Once it has been used, it must recharge for 24 hours before it can be used again. The room it creates should never be bigger than a bedroom and will never contain magical items. Monsters cannot access this room regardless of event circumstances. It can be lost. It will appear on any desk-like surface of the Sleeper with a red ribbon tied around it.
THE WEATHER:: November is much colder than October and a few mornings will show light snowfall. Snow will begin to actually layer and stick around by the end of the month. There will be a pleasant odor in the air throughout November as mushrooms flourish throughout the city, ready for harvesting. But be careful! Not every mushroom is good to eat...Ah well. You'll learn the hard way!
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:: Fruits and beef products will become increasingly rare during Bone Season. Most meat products will likely be jerky and fruits will be dried and canned. It will be difficult to get fresh of either for a while. People will start to wear thicker clothes, including furs, around the city. There will be an influx of wool clothes and blankets sold at the Architect's Market.
Trenchies seem to keep nervously glancing around. Some Trenchies may advise Sleepers to "travel together" this month. If asked why, Trenchies will plainly inform them: "Sometimes Sleepers go missing in droves in November...We never really know where they go...But be safe in your travels."
EFFECTS FROM PREVIOUS MONTH:: Some tall structures may have collapsed during October's winds. Don't be surprised if you see a tree or two obstructing roads. There may be leftover feelings of despair from the ghosts that lingered too long. The howling of ghosts may still be heard in some more desolate parts of Trench. Kites and pieces of costumes litter the streets, piled with leaves and other debris. Might not be such a bad idea to salvage some of this stuff for winter...

Each month, blood types will be impacted differently depending on events, Pthumerians, and moon cycles. These changes will vary significantly. These changes are meant to represent the intricate relationship between Sleeper blood and the world around them.
Players are always welcome to opt-out of anything in this section, but we do strongly encourage participants to help create a consistent atmosphere for the game. To those who opt-out OOCly, characters cannot ICly contradict these events.
There will be some months where all blood types are impacted or only some blood types are impacted. Rarely will there be months where no blood types are impacted.

LEVELS OF CORRUPTION:: Corruption will be relatively scattered and high this month. November can be extremely disorienting for some due to some of its atmospheric shifts, and many struggle to keep up. Keep your head on straight and you might just make it to December without losing your sanity. The Bone Moon seems to make people feel more isolated from one another and may cause disjointed emotions when it comes to relationships. Misunderstandings are frequent. Careful with your words this month, Sleeper.

On the other hand, some beasts are coming out to stock up on food before hibernation. In other words? Don't be fooled by the quiet in the night: there are things that are looking to you to help them feel full for the upcoming long season. Be careful, good Sleepers, the night is young and the hunt is just starting.
LEVELS OF BLOOD POLLUTION:: Blood pollution will be heavy this month. But the strange thing is, you won't be able to figure out where the heck it's even coming from. The streets aren't filled with blood, but you can smell it in the air. You can feel it responding to your own blood. It's enough to make anyone feel tense. Just where exactly is the blood pollution coming from...? It's as if it's coming from all around you...You may even notice a bloody mist in the air, fine and easy to miss, and you may even see some of that same blood stain your clothes and homes.
That can't be good.

IMPACT SUMMARIES (OOC/IC)
Did your character start a new business last month? Did they have a massive fight? Solve some mysteries? Then this is the place to summarize the impact they have had on the setting! We hope this makes it easier for everyone to collectively stay in the loop about what other players are doing. This is not required but we feel it will help provide a sense of community among the characters. All impacts summarized should be incidents that could be publically discovered or referenced. Impacts can be from player plots, mod events, TDMs, character-created businesses, or other such concepts.
This will also serve as a light plotting post for those who are interested in bringing on more people for whatever they have done/how they plan to continue with their personal plots. Please fill out the following form and post it as a comment on this page!

There will be a OOC Impact Top Level comment players can use to discuss OOC impacts in a more formal, OOC manner where players can discuss the nitty-gritty details and ask questions or plot. This is where you can use the form:
There will be a IC Impact Top Level comment where characters can make announcement/advertisements about businesses or report in on things that they discovered. The intention of a character using the Newsletter would be the equivalent of a character using a news outlet source - the idea is that whatever they share to the Newsletter will reach the entire city of Trench rather than exclusively Sleepers. Characters will be able to respond and comment to each other's IC Impacts as they would on deernet.
IC Impacts will be a lot more in-character and randomized in look and feel, depending on what players are hoping to achieve. We have not provided an IC impact form since the variety is so widespread. Feel free to make both OOC and IC impact posts.

When the impact happened: Opened Late September, Ongoing
Nature of Impact: Character Business
Impact Summary: Ruby and Mako have started a system of safe houses and supply caches in Trench. The first safe house is located in Cellar Door and they are going to look to expand as time goes on.
They are always looking for people to defend, gather up supplies, or build defenses for these locations. It's meant to be a safe place for sleepers to go when things get dangerous. There hasn't been a post this month but I'll be looking to make one next month or in January. This could change depending on event posts. If anyone wants to help or do something before I make an official post. Send me a message and we can plot something out. Or if your character is hanging around let me know!
Future Impact Plans: Ruby will be looking to expand in December and will likely be asking for help and recruiting.

Re: Happy Huntresses Safe Houses
He'll offer whatever knowledge he has in evacuation too. Technically, Todoroki has some more months experience with this, so I'm cool with handwaving Deku telling Ruby to pick his brain instead.
Are native Deerians able to use these safehouses too? (He'd understand if not, given Sleepers' high level of blood corruption.)

Ruby will definitely poke at the both of them for some assistance. I've been meaning to get some cr with todoroki so this works out well.
Everyone is welcome for the most part but it is a sleeper focused set up. In Deerington the NPC's were hostile toward the Sleepers so it's kind of a set up incase something like that were to occur again. But Ruby would not turn anyone away.

Ruby's concern for that has gone up considering they aren't enemies built up on a dream anymore. She's just had a bad run in where the previous townspeople tried to burn her alive. It wasn't a great time.
