player plots.

THIS PAGE IS NOW CLOSED
What is a player plot exactly? Player plots are goal-oriented, open-ended player-created events intended for the whole game (or those who are interested) to play with. A player-plot should encourage open participation and are intended as mini-events.

But what's the difference between an elaborate Open-Post and a Player Plot? Great question! Elaborate open posts such as house parties usually don't have some ultimate "goal" in mind except to have a good time. That and some Players may choose to create elaborate posts exclusive to their established CR circles and don't really require approval for isolated plans like that.

Player Plots are usually narrative-driven, open-ended prompts with a concise goal in mind that requires a collaborative effort to resolve..

If you're ever uncertain about player plots or have any questions, feel free to ask in the appropriate section down below.

To submit a player plot, please fill out the following form:

We understand some plots may change along the way depending on what's going on - so don't worry! This is really more of a skeletal form and you don't need to stick religiously to what you put down. If you feel your plot has strayed too far, feel free to let us know!

Rules and Structures for Player Plots

We ask that all players wait to have their plot officially approved on this page before moving forward with putting it in action, even if a mod has approved it privately. If you are ever waiting on a player plot approval, please always feel free to directly contact someone on the mod team to push things along faster. Thank you!

1. Opening a player plot means being prepared to be responsible for communication with a large number of players. While we expect this from all players in general, we will especially expect this from people willingly taking on player plots.

2. If there is any miscommunication between players about your plot, we will expect you to resolve any issues and provide clarification or mediation. Please only come to us if you feel game rules are actively being broken or if you feel something has become inappropriate.

3. Please do not use player plots as a means to further isolate certain players. If we suspect anyone of doing this, we will talk to you privately about the situation.

4. Player Plots will never impact the foundation of the game. Even if player plots are successfully widespread and players collectively agree on their characters being impacted permanently by a player plot, no player plot will be allowed to change drastic elements of the game such as the magic system or how Pthumerians function, etc. Player plots may be allowed to change physical land or buildings but that will be on a strictly mod-approved basis.

Similarly, player plots will never influence mod-created events. Player plots can be the result of a mod-event or be impacted by a mod-event, but no player plot will "cause" a mod-event.

5. You are allowed to take back a player plot at any time. You do not need to play out anything you are not comfortable with.

6. While most player plots are short-lived, there is no actual set time frame for player plots. They can technically be "indefinite" if someone is interested in longevity. We do ask for duration on the form, but if you have no true "end" duration in mind, just clarify as much!

7. Even if you plan on a long-term plot, you need to provide a way for other characters to "leave" the plot in some way whether physically removing themselves from the situation or fulfilling some tasks for a curse - whatever it may be. That's for the "how it ends" portion of the form.

8. All player plots must be optional. It's fine to have the player plot feel like something characters can't avoid, but you must make it clear that it can be clearly avoided one way or another.

9. If we have an abundance of player plots or feel your player plot may contradict/be lost during a specific event, we may recommend you start your player plot at a different date. The idea is to improve the engagement with your plot.
