MAY 2022 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to Deer Country's Newsletter! This is a half IC, half OOC informational post. We strongly urge our player base to read all Newsletters posted to the community as they contain important information about that month's weather, environmental changes, other plot-important information, important dates, and any important mod announcements. Newsletters will allow a chance for players to post about the impact their characters may have made in the setting using the form down below.
You can always feel free to ask questions on newsletters. Of course, we may sometimes suggest you wait until the event for certain questions, but for the most part, we should be able to help you out! Players are welcome to engage with the prompts/elements from Newsletter as soon as they are accepted into the game. Players may also use newsletter prompts as a basis for writing samples in applications.

CURRENT SEASON:: The Season of Tears continues into May. Expect light showers and a buzz in the air as the city starts to warm up. Literally - insects are really coming out of the woodwork! And boy, there are a lot of them.
THE MOON:: The Wild Moon winks out and sunlight is allowed back over Trench. Along with it comes the new moon: Flushed Moon. Pale, pink light fills the streets in the evening and there is decidedly something warm and pleasant about this moon. The air is filled with the sweet scent of flowers.
PATRON PTHUMERIAN:: Bausphomette reigns supreme in May and you can hear them howling in the evening. They can be seen scaling across rooftops. Be careful not to mistaken Bausphomette for a mindless monster - they might look fierce, but oftentimes, they can be found sitting in high places and contemplating life. They will gladly sit with others and reflect in silence. They have been known to provide guidance to those struggling with how they see themselves. Baus is drawn to people with identity issues. Baus is extremely empathetic and arguably one of the kindest of the Pthumerians.
MONTHLY BLESSINGS:: On your Blessed Day this month, your Patron Pthumerian will bless you with a Comfort Blanket. This blanket appears to be made out of a butter-colored, soft material. It's warm and cozy and can instantly alleviate anxiety. But that's not all! Baus is known as the Pthumerian of Transformation and spending some time curled up in the Comfort Blanket can cause some unique attributes such as temporary transformations into different versions of yourself. This transformative quality only lasts a few hours, but it's a valuable shape-shifting ability. You can't seem to control what you will transform into, but it's useful all the same and can be used for anyone who curls up under the blanket for longer than an hour. It's a standard blanket size.
THE WEATHER:: The weather is warm during the day and a bit chilly at night. Light morning showers will be reoccurring and you will see a few rainbows during this month. Plants begin to spring up and are here to stay, but there are a few plants that seem...suspicious. You can't put your finger on it, but hmm...Anyway! Insects are coming out and about and there seems to be a large abundance of bees. So many that they seem to be humming everywhere. If you didn't know better, you could swear you hear them humming around in your own head. Haha! Hopefully, that's nothing like what it sounds!!!
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:: Daylight is back in Trench and the perpetual night of April is gone.
EFFECTS FROM PREVIOUS MONTH:: Allergy season has passed! But insect season is here. Eww.

Each month, blood types will be impacted differently depending on events, Pthumerians, and moon cycles. These changes will vary significantly. These changes are meant to represent the intricate relationship between Sleeper blood and the world around them.
Players are always welcome to opt-out of anything in this section, but we do strongly encourage participants to help create a consistent atmosphere for the game. To those who opt-out OOCly, characters cannot ICly contradict these events.
There will be some months where all blood types are impacted or only some blood types are impacted. Rarely will there be months where no blood types are impacted.
WARMBLOODS:: Warmbloods will find themselves absolutely ravenous this month. They can't eat or drink enough! Serious case of the munchies. All that food is going to good use though! Eating and drinking will seem to rejuvinate characters significantly and amplify powers.
COLDBLOODS:: Coldbloods will benefit greatly from time spent in the sun. This will clear the mind, nourish the soul, and heighten powers and awareness of surroundings. Coldbloods will feel confident and steady this month.
PALEBLOODS:: Palebloods will feel an increasing itchiness and, at the worst, have visions of insects crawling around inside of their bodies.
VILEBLOODS:: Vilebloods will find that their blood is especially potent for healing this month. The scent of their blood can bring great calmnness to palebloods and alleviate visions of insects. Vileblood will be highly valuable this month for reversing effects of beasthood and corruption.
DARKBLOODS:: Darkbloods will be able to create bugs out of nothing this month - sometimes accidentally. Probably accidentally. The bugs you summon may directly reflect your emotions. Feeling sluggish? Congrats, you summoned a slug. Is that a bug? I don't know. You know what I mean.
LEVELS OF CORRUPTION:: Somewhat low this month!
LEVELS OF BEASTHOOD:: Extremely low this month and borderline unlikely. Baus is a Pthumerian of beastly nature and seems to have enchanted many beasts within Trench to be gentler.

IMPACT SUMMARIES (OOC/IC)
Did your character start a new business last month? Did they have a massive fight? Solve some mysteries? Then this is the place to summarize the impact they have had on the setting! We hope this makes it easier for everyone to collectively stay in the loop about what other players are doing. This is not required but we feel it will help provide a sense of community among the characters. All impacts summarized should be incidents that could be publically discovered or referenced. Impacts can be from player plots, mod events, TDMs, character-created businesses, or other such concepts.
This will also serve as a light plotting post for those who are interested in bringing on more people for whatever they have done/how they plan to continue with their personal plots. Please fill out the following form and post it as a comment on this page!
