Hello!

Out of largely-idle curiosity, with a vague eye towards the future, a question about Omens —

Do they have to look like animals, or other serving-the-role-of-animals beings (as an example, I believe that Murderbot was allowed to have its Omen be [a] drone[s])?

Given the wide and wild weirdness of spec-fic writing especially, if it was something that made sense to the character, could it be something that other people would classify as an inanimate object, and never mind that the character thought it was plenty animate as it was?

(As an example of that — I'm remembering a character from the Xanth books who has a small magical "moon" orbiting her; one book's plot involved someone getting downright fractal about visiting a number of these moons [one princess living on each, each with a satellite of her own]. Nobody else had a moon, and nobody interacted with her moon the same way she did, but I swear I remember it showed her moods with its phases etc anyway.)

Could someone's Omen have a similar shape, if it made sense for that character?

I mean, just imagine having a tiny little planet talking to you on the network like some of the animal Omens do
